Supporting podcasts, and Adam Carolla

Supporting podcasts, and Adam Carolla

I’ve become a big fan of podcasts, mainly for the reason that I can listen to them anytime and don’t have to tune in to a radio station on a specific day and time to listen.

When Adam Carolla lost his job at an LA radio station about a month ago, I had only been listening to him a few mornings a week while driving to one of my many part-time jobs. And I only heard him for about 20 minutes because that’s about all the time I was in the car, and some of that was commercials. So I didn’t get to hear the full length of his rants.

I became a Carolla fan and was disheartened to see him lose his radio gig. I’ve been out of work since June 2008, and continue looking for full-time work while holding down part-tme gigs, so I know what losing a job is like. But Carolla wasted no time, starting a podcast from his home a few days after his last radio show.

I’m now addicted to his podcast, and try to listen to it daily. I’m a bit behind, but I’m catching up. On one of his podcasts that I was listening to today, he asked listeners to pass the word about his podcasts, which he pays out of his pocket for the bandwidth. He’ s not asking for money,  just some promotion among fans, which is partly why I’m writing this blog entry.

I’ve supported NPR’s “This American Life” in the past with a small financial donation, and while Carolla isn’t asking for money yet, I thought I’d passs the word that his podcast is funny and worth listening too.  You can find it on iTunes or go to his Web site for more information.

In other podcast news, I will be on a live “blogcast” at 10 a.m. PST Wednsday, April 22, that is put on by WalletPop.com, a personal finance site run by AOL that I write for daily. It will be  a live broadcast on the Internet that you can either listen to live or later. I’ll provide the link next week when I learn more. I’ll be discussing the job hunt and what people can do to find a job, or make one of their own.
